PROJECT #1

Smart&Start

Smart&Start Italia is a special initiative promoted and managed by INVITALIA, a public body managed by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, whose main purpose is to support the creation and growth of innovative startups that demonstrate a significant level of technological expertise.
ZENIT’s startup activity has been recognized as worthy of funding under the Smart&Start program, which provides a contribution to support various initial costs. Thanks to the support of Smart&Start, Zenit will be able to enhance its marketing actions and the acquisition of laboratory equipment. In addition, this government program helps small emerging companies to select and involve highly qualified experts through long-term contracts that also favour research and development activities. ZENIT, together with its partners, is committed to improving its innovative 3D printing process, during which advanced materials (YAG) are used to obtain polycrystalline components with special shapes. This process was developed by the founders of Zenit (Laura Esposito, Jan Hostasa, Andreana Piancastelli, Valentini Biasini) and patented PCT/EP2021/057169 on 03/22/2021 and certainly represents one of the assets of the company whose acquisition is made possible by Smart&Start.

PROJECT #1

The Zenit Smart Polycrystals laboratory

To the solid-state laser systems market, Zenit offers laser gain media formed by polycrystals in alternative to traditional single crystals. Zenit polycrystals help dissipate more effectively the heat generated during the emission process, thus minimizing degradation of performance caused by thermal gradients and their related optical effects. This is made possible by the type and distribution of dopant ions within the component volume, which can vary in three dimensions.
